Mommy and Me

LOVE these classes through our adult ed. They are so cheap ($10 or less). It gives me special time with the big kids and they get to be creative! This was a new one for us. Ava and I have done lots of card decorating, I did a wreath making class that was super fun. I feel so blessed to have such an awesome school system for my children everyday and then to have these funclasses at night right up the road? Priceless.

Michael put a mohawk on his owl.

Turkey time!

These were adorable and so easy to make! I might even be able to pull it off for Thanksgiving.

Ava left her M&Ms up to add a little sparkle to his eyes. What a great night! We did end up throwing most of them away b/c who really needs that much sugar (we made 12 total). So maybe next time we should invite some friends over the day after to share our creations.

The project continues

Well we have lighting, drywall, mud and our cabinets are in the state waiting to be delivered.  We are making progress. At a snail's pace but progress none the less.

We are missing the primer, the trim, the ceiling, the flooring and the kitchen. We have yet to do the plumbing and some of the heating changes.

We have more help than we need.

And lots of personal instructions. Everyone has ideas about what they want. We are listening, but a slide from the second floor is probably not going to happen. I dont think it will make code, sorry guys.

It's all fun and games until...

Someone cries. They started to get silly. Isnt that how all things start to go downhill?

Derek says what is that on the cake? And michael being a sucker looks, closely...

Henry thought it was HYSTERICAL

So did Ava...

And of course Michael.

But when it was ava's turn she got upset and it ended in great big GREEN crocodile tears.

A few days late but finally...

We get to celebrate Henry is one! This is the color cake you get when you decide at the last minute maybe the healthy sugar free zuchinni muffins you made for daycare friends to celebrate with are robbing your little munchkin from a special moment.

Um, I am freezing people, the side of our house is missing and its october...

The gang and the last pictures of our little kitchen!

Ah, the GREEN cake! Pure sugar and lard, now I can sleep at night. Too bad he didnt sleep for about 3 more hours. Sigh...

But my dad said yes...

"Can we please ride 1/2 way down the driveway? We will stay out of the puddles."

Sad to say but even my children know that I hate for them to be dirty. Actually I hate for anything to be dirty.

First thing I do after coming home is give Henry a bath. I cant stand the ring around the mouth or the dirt between his pudgey little finger rolls.

I also dont let my kids play in puddles or mud. These are the things that they do at daycare, Mama Sues, school or Theresa's house so I dont have to be involved. (Trust me they arent totally deprived. They find many a way to get dirty, even with keeping a close watch)

It came as a surprise to find Ava standing on the front porch saying, "I might need a shower, Mom. But dont worry Dad said I could."

Luckily it just washed off. Michael looked even worse. And they had so much fun for once I didn't mind the mess.

Cardboard boxes and other fun toys...

People always say kids like cardboard boxes better than the toys they hold. This is our newest bargain toy. Derek bought this at target for less than 4 dollars - hidden in the back of the store. Henry has gotten $4 million dollars of fun out of it before it sprung a leak (big kids were jumping on it too). He loves to throw balls in and out and to push things through the holes or peak in or out of the windows.

Throwing animal pieces out and climbing out to pick them up. He will wear himself out climbing around and giggling and laughing. In the midst of all of our house renovation chaos it is good that he has his one little (clean and safe) place to play.

Problem solver....

I dropped my binky somewhere around here.

Just a little bit farther....

Henry LOVES solving problems. He is very BOY and likes cause and effect. He will look around the house to see what he can find to fit in a new spot or carry a stool around and place it next to anything he wants to climb up on. He is a little too creative for us!

Happy First!

One heck of a kid,
one sweet smile,
one happy baby,
one fast on his feet, one mover and shaker...

That's our baby boy.

Happy first birthday Henry!
